Suffering from genital herpes isn’t just about dealing with the physical portion of it. It’s just as important to realize that there can be many psychological effects too.

Two types of herpes viruses can cause serious eye problems (one type that causes cold sores and the other causes chickenpox). Genital herpes is not typically associated with eye problems, however, simplex type 1 herpes can cause issues with the eyes and can be passed to the genitals.

Genital herpes is a sexually transmitted disease affecting 45 million people throughout the nation who are 12 or older. Many people don’t even realize they have genital herpes and so it’s important to take extreme caution when having sexual intercourse, making sure you’re well aware of your partner’s sexual history.

Herpes simplex is not curable and hence all forms of remedies for herpes simplex or their goals would be to reduce the occurrence of the condition as well as providing symptomatic relief during an outbreak.

Genital herpes is very contagious and so it’s important to practice safe sex and be aware of the people we are having sexual intercourse with.

Once an individual has the initial outbreak of genital herpes, the chances of recurring outbreaks are much higher. The frequency and severity of the outbreaks vary from individual to individual.
